In Partnership with EFC (Extreme Fighting Championship), Storm Combat and the Wot-if Trust we are fighting back against Gender Based Violence. This Mandela Day on the 18th of July 2022, we kicked off our first initiative to give 13 beneficiaries from Diepsloot township, 4 weeks of self-defence training. Our corporate sponsor: Sonae Arauco made this momentous day possible. The Fight Back Initiative Africa (FBIA) has been developed to address many Gender Based Violence and social issues that plagues our communities. As Covid restrictions have been lifted we has seen a massive spike in violence and murders. Violence against women and children make up 80% of those affected, child abuse, sexual assault, drug abuse, impoverishment and a lack of positive male role models in our communities are some of the major problems we face as a society. Young girls falling pregnant due to rape have to drop out of school. This course includes: x4   1.5 hours lessons “Street Smarts” Lecture which equips students with essential skills including pre-attack indicators, situational awareness know-how, improvised weapons etc. Instrutor Credentials: Ivana Reis Tactical Combat + Firearms Instructor for Law Enforcement/CPO’s Krav Maga (Black Belt) BJJ/MMA/Kali Instructor Our collective efforts empowering beneficiaries to defend themselves, rebuild confidence, instil values into communities, teach self-discipline and increase the amount of male role models in our communities by offering a safe training space for both men and women where they will learn Krav Maga Self Defence and a variety of Mixed Martial Arts and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Gender-based violence is a phenomenon deeply rooted in gender inequality and continues to be one of the most notable human rights violations within all societies. Gender-based violence is violence directed against a person because of their gender. Both women and men experience gender-based violence but the majority of victims are women and girls. – European Institute for Gender Equality It is our aim to train 10,000 people over the next 3 years and equip those previously affected or those living in unsafe areas to defend themselves. Masiphumelele Soccer Program in Association with Bartosch Foundation’s The Bartosch Foundation’s Soccer Sunday Program creates safe spaces for youth to develop and thrive by teaching soccer skills, providing healthy meals and expanding their minds through educational excursions around Cape Town. The program is in Masiphumelele, Noordhoek with 40 kids, run by Petya Bartosch. It started in October 2020 after she ran a food parcel project throughout the struggles of COVID- 19. She saw that the children were lacking in healthy activities to do on weekends, craving sport and guidance and thus chose to focus on them rather. The passion and talent in Masiphumelele for soccer is beautiful to see. Her vision is to harness the talent already there and create a safe space for it to grow, filled with friendship, emotional guidance, love and support. The children start off by saying a verse holding hands and share what they are grateful for from the past week. Coach Xolani then runs a fitness program, followed by friendly soccer matches and a healthy meal. Once a month Petya rents two taxis and takes the kids on adventure/ educational excursions such as hikes, beach days and to visit museums. “Sports have the power to change the world. It has the power to inspire, the power to unite people in a way that little else does. It speaks to youth in a language they understand. Sports can create hope, where there was once only despair. It is more powerful than governments in breaking down racial barriers. It laughs in the face of all types of discrimination. Sports is the game of lovers.” – Nelson Mandela. The Boikanyo Secondary School is located in Dobsonville, Soweto, Gauteng South Africa. The Healing Africa Foundation and Boikanyo School are working together to create a better environment for the children. Their sports field has no grass and the cricket nets have been neglected to the point of disrepair. The school is Government funded and does not have extra money to fix these fundamental problems. We have thus far held a fundraising event and established a small food garden, with 2019 bringing the opportunity to do so much more. [...] Read more...

Terrajoule invented the practical breakthrough that yields energy storage at less than 20% of the cost of lithium-ion battery storage. Terrajoule storage does not degrade over time, has an unlimited number of charge-discharge cycles, lasts at least 25 years, and utilizes no toxic or rare materials. Further, Terrajoule’s strategy is based on the conviction that distributed power generation will play a much larger role in future electricity generation. Therefore Terrajoule power plants are mass-produced as 2 MW modular units, so that power plants can be built from 2 MW to 100 MW or more. Each power plant unit generates ~5 GWh per year in typical locations. Energy storage is configurable from 6 MWh to 24 MWh net discharge capacity per unit. Peak dispatch power, 2 MW standard, is configurable up to 8 MW, to serve applications where there are large spikes in electricity market price or demand.
